To use Crystal Report, you will have to install Crystal Report on your system to create reports. You can go to www.businessobjects.com website to check which is the latest version they are selling right now. To view reports in VB you will need either the Crystal Report Control or Crystal Report Viewer Control. I guess both of these will be installed when you install crystal reports on your system.

Crystal reports can be used with almost all types of backend databases. If you want a free edition of the SQL for development purposes, you can download Microsoft Database Engine / SQL Express 2005 from www.microsoft.com.
